Private Tuition

Girl taking part in online tuition sessionWelcome to Teach Wessex. We provide online private tuition and interactive learning for children aged 8-16 years from the comfort of their own home.

At Teach Wessex it’s all about encouragement, problem solving and supporting our students to find their own way of doing things. We do this through exploring ideas, asking open questions, and using real life examples to aid better understanding of topics.

We run a very effective and well established 11 Plus Preparation Programme. These lessons are taught by experienced and qualified teachers, offering a great student to adult ratio (1:1 and 2:1) and allow students to work collaboratively.

Alongside this we offer a 1:1 Teaching Services in Key Stage 2 (including SATs), Key Stage 3 (maths & English) and GCSE’s (KS4). Our experienced tutors cover: Mathematics and English (KS2 up to GCSE), Grammar School entrance tests and all the fundamentals of early learning. It is a great opportunity for students to get some meaningful one to one time with a qualified teacher.

Our tutors are carefully chosen to provide a service that is reactive, meaning that the sessions are tailored to individuals students needs and have an element of free-flow to them, allowing for the students to have a say in what topics are covered, which helps build trust with their tutor. All tutors are qualified teachers with enhanced DBS and up to date PREVENT duty and Safeguard training.

How does online tuition at Teach Wessex workHow does it work?

Organising private tuition for your child is quick and simple and can be done in a few simple steps.

Step 1 – Get in touch

Please complete our enquiry form to contact us regarding your tutoring needs. Please be as detailed as possible.

Step 2. Getting to know you

We’ll give you a call to discuss how we can help support your child. We’ll ask you for the following information:

  • Why you want tuition
  • Current / target grades
  • Exam board (if studying GCSE’s/ 11 Plus)
  • How your child likes to learn
  • Ares or topics to focus on
  • Important dates coming up for tests/exams
  • Literature texts (GCSE English only)

This information helps us identify the best fit tutor to help support your child’s learning.

Step 3. Trial session

Once we’ve identified a suitable tutor, we’ll set up a trial session that fits around your child’s schedule and afterschool activities. In this trial session, the tutor will spend time getting to know your child by building rapport and putting them at ease. They will start to assess your child’s knowledge and understanding of the subjects you have identified and work with your child to create a plan of how they’re going to work together to help them reach their goals.

Step 4. Feedback & next steps

After the trial tuition session we’ll get in touch to find out how the session went and if you want to book in regular weekly sessions.  These will take place on the same day and time each week.

Step 5. Updates and Homework

Homework will be set by the tutor, with any worksheets or exam papers being posted or sent electronically, via email.
